Muslims regard Muhammad as a "good example" to follow.  Muhammad married his first cousin, Zainab.  Neither Muhammad nor Allah ever condemned the marriage of cousins, with the potential for severe & horrible genetic defects in children.

Our debate question is "What do you suppose would have ensued, both now and over the centuries, if Allah and his messenger had merely added first cousins to the list of people one cannot marry?

Of course, if Allah and Muhammad had added "cousins" to the list of people one is prohibited from marrying, then there would have been far fewer genetic abnormalities among Muslims. But Muhammad did not know about genetic defects arising in the progeny of cousin-marriages, so how could Allah?
