Debate Question:  Does Fasting During the Month of Ramadan Lead to Health Problems (and other problems as well)?  Muslims can just eat & drink each day only very late or very early each day -- does this lead to unhealthy gorging? See video below!

Modern science tells us that humans have two intestines:  the small intestine and the large intestine.  However, Muhammad declared that Muslims have but a single intestine (unlike nonMuslims, whom he declared have seven intestines):  "Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (Peace be upon him) as saying that a non-Muslim eats in seven intestines whereas a Muslim eats in one intestine.  (Sahih Muslim Book 23 Hadith 5113)" [see also: (Sahih Bukhari, vol. 7, book 65, Number 308)]
Debate Questions:
Did Muhammad mean that a Muslim only uses one of the two intestines that he or she has?  [If so, why did Allah give Muslims two intestines?]
Did Muhammad instead mean that modern science is wrong, and that a Muslim truly only does have one intestine?
Would having only one intestine make the absorption of food more difficult, especially during Ramadan?

Muhammad, the role model (the "fine example") for Muslims everywhere, married his 1st cousin, Zaynab, & the Quran does not list 1st cousins among those a Muslim is forbidden to marry.  But all this could have tragic implications for children...

Many Muslim women wear the niqab or burqa, complying with the rules of the Quran (see Quran 33:59, for example).  Our debate question: has their compliance led to inadequate acquisition of vitamin D from sunlight throughout the centuries?

Covering all of the skin (through wearing a burqa or niqab) inhibits one from absorbing Vitamin D from sunlight, and an inadequate amount of Vitamin D is associated with the diseases, rickets, and osteomalacia, which can lead to soft bones and skeletal deformities.  From the journal article, Vitamin D status and determinants of deficiency among non-pregnant Jordanian women of reproductive age, published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2012 Jun;66(6):751-6 we read these reported results: "Results showed 60.3% (95% CI: 57.1-63.4%) deficiency (<12 ng/ml) and 95.7% (95% CI: 94.4-96.8%) insufficiency (<20 ng/ml) among women. Prevalence of deficiency was 1.60 times higher for women who covered with a scarf/hijab (95% CI: 1.06-2.40, P = 0.024) and 1.87 times higher for women who wore full cover, or a niqab (95% CI: 1.20-2.93, P = 0.006), compared with the women who did not wear a scarf/hijab or niqab" [emphasis added].
In summary, then, can we all agree that -- as this link indicates --> Burkas ‘are bad for your health’ ?

Muhammad and Camel Urine (Part 2). Even the Saudis in charge of health are now doubting Muhammad...

Muhammad famously prescribed camel urine as a medicine (see post below). Yet according to Anees Sindi, deputy chief of the Command and Control Center within the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health, “The available evidence indicates that camels transmit Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) to humans, who then infect each other through direct contact with droplets that contain the virus.”  The World Health Organization reports that "Approximately 36% of reported patients with MERS-CoV have died," and that "camels are likely to be a major reservoir host for MERS-CoV and an animal source of infection in humans."

Our Debate Question:  "Was Muhammad aware of any significant risks in drinking the urine of the camel?"

Black Cumin and rabies.  "I heard Allah's Messenger (saws) saying, 'There is healing in black cumin for all diseases except death.'" - Sahih Bukhari, 7.592. To the Muslims we ask: "How precisely does black cumin heal one from rabies?

Seven Extraordinary Dates.   Muhammad said "Whoever takes 7 'Ajwa dates in the morning will not be affected by magic or poison on that day." (Sahih Bukhari). Our Debate Question: "do the 7 dates protect you from all poison, or only a particular type?

Additional Debate Questions:  Would eating precisely 7 'Ajwa dates protect from poison a 200 kg. man just as much as it would protect a 50 kg. woman?
And just how precisely does eating 7 'ajwa dates protect an individual from magic?

Finally, "the Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison." (Sahih Bukhari).  So was Muhammad forgetting to eat the 7 'ajwa dates in the morning?

"Narrated Anas: Some people from the tribe of 'Ukl came to the Prophet and embraced Islam. The climate of Medina did not suit them, so the Prophet ordered them to go to the (herd of milch) camels of charity and to drink, their milk and urine (as a medicine)." [Sahih Bukhari, Ablutions (Wudu'), Volume 1, Book 4, Number 234]
So Muslims, what specific ailments does camel urine cure?  Are there any components of camel's urine that are harmful?

Which Wing of the Fly has the Cure?

11/17/2014

Narrated Abu Huraira: "The Prophet said "If a house fly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink), for one of its wings has a disease and the other has the cure for the disease." -- Sahih Bukhari, vol.4 book 54, no. 537.
So let the Muslims debate:  Is it the left wing with the cure, and
the right wing with the disease, or is it the right wing with the
cure and the left wing with the disease?
