Our Debate Questions!
In Quran 2:22 we read that Allah is the one "who made for you the earth a bed
[spread out] and the sky a ceiling" [Sahih International translation]. Look at the
photograph of the earth. Would you use the word, "bed," to describe it?
Quran 27:61 informs us that Allah made the earth a "fixed abode" (Pickthall translation) or a
"stable ground" (Sahih International translation).
As the video points out, the Quran mentions the movement of the sun and moon, but never mentions
the orbit of the earth, despite referring to the earth hundreds of times. Why do you suppose this is the case?

- Is there a problem with regarding earth as a "fixed abode" given that our earth is constantly moving around the sun?
- Is there a problem with regarding earth as a "stable ground" given that two-thirds of the earth's surface consists of water?
